Ray Jones

Ray has been a professional woodturner for most of his working life and is one of the most accomplished teachers of turning in the UK.

ray talking.jpg (29793 bytes)   MWA regularly run courses with Ray at his fully equipped (11 lathes) workshop in the centre of Liverpool. These courses are tailored to suit the individuals concerned from ‘one on one’ sessions to groups of ten (each on a separate lathe). Our so called ‘Training Days’ at Ray’s shop usually consist of an all day session of 9 or 10 members each working on their own project but having Ray at hand to offer help and advice and can cost as little as £10.00 for the day. Mind you we tend to do more talking than turning.

For clubs and individuals, Ray can arrange accommodation at local hostelries at very reasonable prices. Ray's teaching skills have attracted students from as far away as Canada for one of his two day training courses. Contact MWA club secretary Steve Jackson on mwa@cableinet.co.uk for details. Why not bring your partner? Liverpool boasts a fine seafaring heritage with numerous museums, two major art galleries, more listed buildings than any other city outside London and the Beatles tour and museum, as well as being within easy reach of Chester, Southport, the Lakes and the Wirral peninsular.

Contact MWA club secretary Steve Jackson on mwa@cableinet.co.uk for details.

Being a regular at clubs and shows Ray is well known around the UK, and has demonstrated his craft throughout the world including the USA, Eire and Finland. He is also current Chairman of the Northern Federation of Woodturning Groups.
