Fruits of the Forest
Fineshade, Peterborough.
This show is different from the others that we attend in so much as it is
held in the middle of a forest and, rather than being a trade show, it is a
celebration of wood and woodland crafts. Run in conjunction with the Forestry
Commission the show runs over three days in the summer and is a venue that many
day trippers from all walks of life attend, rather than the usual woodworkers
who go to the trade shows.
We owe our invitation to this event to our club president, TV Star Geoff
Hughes (Onslow from ‘Keeping Up Appearances’ - Eddie Yates from ‘Coronation
Street’ - Tiny from ‘The Royle Family’) who is also a sponsor of this
show.
Organised by Glyn Mould in conjunction with the Forestry Commission the
show was run in 1997 and 1998, but unable to continue in 1999. A move to a new
venue in 2000 is on the cards and MWA are on the shortlist to be invited.
